Autumn Racing Weekend and Hallgarten & Novum Wines Tasting

Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd October 2021

Get your weekend off to a great start by combining top-class Flat racing and a tasting of fine wines from Ascot’s Official Wine Supplier, Hallgarten & Novum Wines.

Ascot’s penultimate Flat meeting of the season features two days of competitive racing, including two Group 3 contests and the most valuable seven-furlong handicap run anywhere in the UK, the £125,000 Challenge Cup, on the Saturday. The feature race of the day is the Noel Murless Stakes, a Listed contest designed as a stepping stone to the following season’s Group contests. The afternoon is rounded out with a handful of competitive handicaps, promising a day of thrilling action.

To make sure this event truly has something for everyone, Hallgarten & Novum Wines will be hosting a brand-new wine tasting bar in the Grandstand, offering the chance to sample a wide selection of red, white and rosé wines between races. Wines from Australia to Argentina, from South Africa and New Zealand to Italy and France, there will be a wine style for every palate, across a range of price points and all easily available from supermarkets and wine specialists.

Racegoers are in for a further treat with BBQ enthusiasts from the acclaimed Smoke & Fire Festival. Experience their succulent pulled pork or American style smoked brisket with flavours that could be straight from the Deep South, while live music on the lawns rounds off the day.

Also at the meeting will be a wide selection of real ales, ciders and perries to enjoy at the Ascot Beer Festival in association with CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

Thrilling racing, an outstanding selection of fine wines, plus beers and a mouth-watering BBQ feast, combine to guarantee a seriously tasty start to a memorable weekend at Ascot.

Queen Anne Enclosure tickets from £20 and King Edward VII Enclosure tickets from £27 per person with discounts available for groups of 10 or more. Fine Dining from £259 + VAT.

As the most famous racecourse in the world, Ascot is renowned for staging some of international racing’s most prestigious prizes as part of its year-round calendar of exceptional sporting action.

As well as the highest quality racing, Ascot is of course equally synonymous with the very finest food and drink and its new online wine shop, the Ascot Wine Club, allows customers the opportunity to enjoy some of its best-loved wines and Champagnes from the comfort of their own home.

During QIPCO King George Diamond Weekend in late July, the Ascot Wine Club was delighted to run a competition offering the chance to win a show stopping six-litre Methuselah of one of its select wines; Whispering Angel Rosé, an enticing dry rosé from Provence.

Customers to have placed an order at ascotwineclub.com were automatically entered into the prize draw, with Maggie Walton-Swan, of Haslemere in Surrey, selected at random as the lucky winner.

“The prize draw was a really good idea and it certainly got my attention!” Ms Walton-Swan said on receipt of her prize recently, adding of the Ascot Wine Club itself – “Of the wines I have tried so far, I have been impressed with the quality (and I am) looking forward to trying some more.”

Launched in association with Ascot’s Official Wine Supplier, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, in time for Royal Ascot At Home this June - the very first time in its long and illustrious history that the Royal Meeting had been held behind closed doors - the Ascot Wine Club was founded as part of the racecourse’s vision to deliver a quintessential Royal Ascot experience to its followers enjoying the action from home.

Showcasing a tempting array of award-winning wines available for purchase and free delivery, including from Moët & Chandon, Ascot’s Official Champagne, today the Ascot Wine Club continues to offer racegoers and wine enthusiasts alike a veritable taste of Ascot while British racing remains closed to spectators. Complete with expert tasting notes and pairing advice, each bottle has been thoughtfully picked from the racecourse’s celebrated wine list.

Three special cases - Yeats, Sagaro and Fame And Glory - have been carefully curated by our experts to provide a selection of wines for every palate and budget, with each case aptly named in honour of an outstanding winner of Royal Ascot’s oldest and most prestigious race, the Gold Cup. The cases contain 12 bottles of hand-selected wines and Champagnes, giving customers the opportunity to sample an outstanding array of some of Ascot’s most popular vintages.

For those looking to create their own selection, all bottles featured in the aforementioned cases are available to purchase individually, with customers invited to put together a bespoke case of their particular choices. A minimum order of 12 bottles applies but all wines are available at a lucrative Ascot Wine Club cost guaranteeing a saving against the standard retail selling price.

We are proud to donate 10% of all Ascot Wine Club online sales to the Ascot Racecourse Supports Charitable Fund, which since its launch in 2017 has raised many hundreds of thousands of pounds for a range of worthy causes in the local community and beyond, including the NHS and frontline charities during the COVID-19 crisis this year.
